Also known as the Peacock Plant, the Calathea Makoyana is a real beauty and a fantastic choice for anyone who loves interesting foliage. Its delicate, oval-shaped leaves feature beautiful patterns of light and dark green, with darker markings that resemble the feathers of a peacock. Turn the leaves over and you'll find gorgeous deep purple undersides!

This eye-catching houseplant brings plenty of colour and texture to your indoor jungle without needing flowers to steal the show.

Plant care:

- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves.

- Watering: Keep the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the surface to dry slightly between watering.

- Humidity: Loves humidity, making a humid room or a spot near a humidifier ideal.

- Temperature: Prefers warm conditions and should be kept away from cold draughts.

- Water type: Where possible, use rainwater, filtered water or distilled water, as Calatheas can be sensitive to minerals in tap water.

- Difficulty: A little more particular about its care, but well worth the effort!

A little plant fact: Like other prayer plants, Calathea Makoyana moves its leaves throughout the day. They open during daylight and fold upwards as evening approaches.
